Since I’ve been in the mood for sushi recently, I frequented on of my favorite Doral sushi haunts, Sushi Sake.
Since I dined with a buddy, you know what that means, right? Sampling!
We ordered two lunch specials to split, the eel and tuna rolls, as well as the Chef’s Choice roll, which included shrimp, salmon, white fish, and tuna.
Everything was fine, both taste-wise and portion size. The eel roll had a feel small bones in it, which was slightly unpleasant, but it was tasty, so I can’t complain much. (Eel is my favorite!) The tuna roll was slightly smaller, and pretty simple — it was just tuna and rice wrapped in seaweed — but it was also tasty, so no complaints there either. Chef’s Choice… I was actually expecting a bit more umph in terms of presentation, but the fish tasted fresh — I particularly enjoyed the buttery taste of the salmon — so I was satisfied with that too.
Our lunch specials came with either miso soup or salad with ginger dressing on the side, and I chose the latter. Nothing to write home about though. In fact, though a decent size, my salad was completely doused in ginger dressing, which made it extremely salty. I had to take about half the dressing out of the salad, and even then, it was too salty. Kind of felt like the chef dumped half a bottle of dressing on accident… ugh, maybe they’ll get it right next time.
Either way, that won’t stop me from going back to Sushi Sake!
